>>>Jesus fed the 5,000.
>>>Disciples sailed to Capernaum, leaving Jesus (withdrew to the mountain)
>>>The crowd deducted that Jesus was in Capernaum, so they sailed across the sea to look for Him.
>>>The crowd found Jesus, yet the meeting did not go as planned...
=============================================================
JOHN 6:25-26 “When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves.”
>>>The crowd was curious about when Jesus arrived at Capernaum. But Jesus did not answer their question.
>>>Jesus said the reason they sought Him was because He had fed them, and they were satisfied.
*Maybe they wanted more food?
*Maybe they thought He would do things like that for them more if they followed them?
===============================================================
JOHN 6:27-29 “Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.” Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.””
>>>(v.27) Jesus told the crowd not to strive for food that will ultimately be useless but work for food that would last for all eternity.
>>>This food wold be given by the Son of Man (Jesus).
>>>Jesus was set as the seal as the guarantee/authentication He came from God.
>>>(v.28-29) Somehow the crowd realized that this “work” for eternal life had something to do with doing the works of God.
>>>Jesus said that the work of God is for people to believe in Him (Jesus).
*They just had to believe-trust in-Jesus.
===============================================================
>>>Biggest verse of the passage
JOHN 6:30 “So they said to him, “Then what sign do you do, that we may see and believe you? What work do you perform?”
>>>The crowd asked Jesus for a visible sign that would cause them to believe in Him.
*But Jesus said in v.26 that they only came to Him for food not because they saw His sign.
*The crowd was asking Jesus to do something while missing what He had already done.
JOHN 6:31Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ””
>>>They are still focused on actual food.
*Manna fell from Heaven for the Israelites to eat while they wandered the wilderness.
*They were consumed w/temporary satisfaction.
===============================================================
JOHN 6:32-35 “Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.” Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”
>>>(v.32-33) The manna in the OT was to point to Jesus. Jesus was what God sent to be seen and to cause to believe.
>>>(v.34) The crowd was attracted by the bread of God but was still thinking actual food.
>>>(v. 35) Jesus finally put all the pieces together for the crowd. He said that He was (and is) the bread of life. Whoever came to Him would be eternally satisfied.

ETERNAL SATISFACTION IS FOUND IN JESUS.

>>>We can get consumed with temporary worldly satisfaction, using God to fulfill those needs.
>>>We can base our condition of following off of something we think He needs to do for us but missing what He’s already done-work on the cross/resurrection and the things He uses to draw us to Himself.
>>>We can spend our lives calling ourselves Christian in an effort to be full with things that won’t last, or we can be forever filled through life in Christ.
